EVALUATIONS
Your journey begins here
To begin training at Sports Performance U, you need to complete an evaluation. Having an evaluation on record allows you to look back to where you have been, for a clue to where you are going. It establishes a baseline to measure progress, and screen movements to identify poor movement patterns. Call us or fill out our online inquiry form to book your evaluation today, and let's get started.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Performance Evaluation - 60 minutes
Upon arriving, you'll be greeted by the evaluation coach and asked to fill out an information form. From there, the evaluation coach will explain the process and take the athletes through the following protocol:
MOVEMENT PREP
Athletes are taught our movement preparation warm-up and get a feel for how classes are run. The evaluation coach will take note of how coordinated an athlete is and how quickly they pickup things.
LOWER BODY POWER
Athletes will undergo a series of jump tests on our electronic jump mat that will give us a better understanding on what specific types of strength and plyometric training they need.
ACCELERATION
We test an athletes ability to accelerate using the 10 yard dash. It's a laser start and laser finish for maximum accuracy. The 20 yard dash is included for good measure.
CHANGE OF DIRECTION
We use the 5-0-5 to test an athlete's ability to change direction on their right and left sides, independently. This test lets us know if an athlete is at an increased risk of injury.
SQUAT ANALYSIS
The athlete performs several repetitions of the overhead squat holding a dowel to assess muscle imbalances, injury risk and movement inefficiencies.
WHAT IS FMS
FMS stands for Functional Movement Screen. It evaluates and grades 7 simple fundamental movements. It is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the positive effects of functional training and distort body awareness leading to injury.
